Center Associate Criteria and Procedures

Associate professionals contribute to the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center through their active collaboration with Center researchers. Associates will be individuals with outstanding professional expertise relating to the Center’s work. Center Associate status is intended for those whose work with the Center is for a sustained period of time. Associates will be expected to contribute to the Center’s research, externally-funded engagement, and/or scholarship during the appointment period. The Associate status proffers formal recognition of an individual’s accomplishments and expertise, and includes the Associate into a community of scholars and practitioners with complementary interests. Appointments are non-salaried and will be made for a specified period of time (typically an academic semester or academic or calendar year, although in unusual circumstances – which must be specified – a shorter period of time may justify an associate appointment).

Associates are nominated by a Center administrator or research staff member, and they are appointed by the Center director. Each associate’s specific responsibilities will be negotiated with a member of the senior research team with final review by the Center’s Director. Appointments are renewable when circumstances justify ongoing relationships with the Center.
