The 2012 LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Conference will be held May 31 - June 1, 2012 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. Frank Campbell, a leading expert in Suicidology along with other experts, will share the lessons learned in years of helping survivors of suicide, how sudden traumatic loss impacts survivors and grief through the different developmental stages.
CLICK HERE TO LEARN MOREThe University of Nebraska Public Policy Center will appoint non-salaried, faculty fellows for those whose affiliation and work with the Center provides substantial benefit to the Center in terms of research, externally-funded engagement, and/or scholarship. In addition to providing substantial benefit to the Center, the fellow status is intended for those whose work with the Center is for a sustained period (typically an academic or calendar year, although in unusual circumstances – which must be specified – a shorter period of time may justify a fellow appointment). Candidates must be nominated by a Center administrator or research staff member. Appointments will be made for the applicable academic July-June year pursuant to an initial review process and can be renewed annually thereafter, if appropriate, based on the recommendation of the Center’s Director.
Center fellows will be expected to contribute to the Center’s research, externally-funded engagement, and/or scholarship during the fellowship appointment period. Each fellow’s specific responsibilities will be negotiated with the Center’s Director. In return, the Center will make office space, administrative and office support, and other resources as needed available depending on the project(s) and activities in which the fellow is engaged.
Selection of first-time fellows will be made by an ad hoc committee constituted of at least one former or current fellow, a tenured University of Nebraska faculty member not a fellow, two senior Center research staff members, one external University partner, and the Center’s Director. Criteria for selection are as above: substantial benefit to the Center in terms of research, externally-funded engagement, and/or scholarship, and a relationship with the Center for a sustained period of time.
An exception to the initial review process is in the case of a faculty member designated for full or partial assignment to the Center by a University of Nebraska unit or department under an MOU with the Center. Such a faculty member will not go through the selection or reappointment process indicated above.
