Real
Choice for Nebraskans
Under the aegis of a Nebraska Health and Human Services System Real Choice grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the state convened a working group to help envision the elements that should comprise a statewide resource database. The working group, the Real Choice Data Team, met during 2002 and comprised information and resource providers and stakeholders from across the state. The PPC and the Mediation Center coordinated and facilitated the Team’s work.
The Data Team’s recommendations covered:
- Purpose, Users, Goals, Needs, and Benefits
- Organization
- Data Structure
- Organization of Information
- Data Presentation
This project built on past work and initiatives focusing on developing an effective, efficient data source for consumers, case managers, and organizations to use to find and promote health and human services programs. One of those activities was the Public Policy Center’s Survey of Existing I&R Services Nebraska 211 System Cost/Benefit Analysis (Spring 2000).
The Team’s work and the resulting document, Recommendations on Creating a Statewide Information Resource of Human Services, formed a basis for the successful project proposal to US Department of Commerce to develop the technological tool for database interoperability.
