PPC Graduate Student Appointed to Fellowship Program

Joseph Hamm, a Public Policy Center Graduate research assistant and doctoral student in psychology and law, was one of eight UNL students to be appointed to the Center for Great Plains Studies 2013 Graduate Fellows Program.

According to the press release the program "provides a place for select graduate students to work, meet, obtain support, learn from fellow students, engage with Center faculty and staff, benefit from the center's resources and progress in their studies."

Taking Charge 2011

The Public Policy Center has worked with the City of Lincoln to convene a public input process about the City's budget. Members of the public were invited to take an online survey about the budget and city services, and discuss their views with other residents of Lincoln both online and in-person. Public input is particularly important because the City faces a significant budget deficit and the possibility that several public services will be reduced or eliminated.

Survey respondents who attended the in-person deliberation had an opportunity to learn about city services and the fiscal situation facing Lincoln, ask questions of the Mayor and city department heads, and weigh-in on the coming year's city budget in facilitated group discussions.

This was the fourth consecutive year that the Center worked with the City to gather public input about the City of Lincoln's budget and services.
