Thomas C. Sorensen Seminar:
Martin Luther King Week Policy Seminar
January 15, 2007
Jane Elliot is an internationally renowned teacher, lecturer, and diversity trainer who presented this Seminar in the City Campus Union. She is famous for her classroom experiment, “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes.” Invented in response to the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., the experiment exposes participants to the experience of being a minority. The experiment labeled individuals as being inferior or superior solely because of eye color, and helped the world to understand subtle presence of racism and prejudice.
This event was part of the Chancellor’s Program and UNL’s Martin Luther King Jr. week, and was co-sponsored by the Public Policy center as part of the Thomas C. Sorensen Policy Seminar Series.
