Voices of Katrina
On September 6th, 2006 the UNL Institute for Ethnic Studies and the Public Policy Center hosted a panel of three Katrina survivors, all of whom now live in Nebraska, to talk about their experiences during and after the storm.
The Public Policy Center became involved in Hurricane Katrina response after Nebraska received a FEMA Crisis Counseling Program grant to provide outreach to both survivors who have relocated to the state and first responders from Nebraska. The Public Policy Center partnered with the state to write the grant and to provide ongoing program consultation and evaluation for the project.
