About

The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (PPC) provides a unique opportunity for policymakers and researchers to work together to address the challenges of local, state, and federal policy. Center researchers bring professional expertise, rigorous academic methods, and effective processes for stakeholder involvement to enhance collaborations and achieve important social outcomes.

Over the past 25 years, the PPC has worked with a wide variety of local, state, and federal organizations to help external partners utilize University resources to research important questions and bring about real-world solutions. The PPC can assist with policy-oriented research, consulting, data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, surveys) and analysis, program evaluation and management, as well as strategic planning, public and stakeholder engagement, and facilitation. Center faculty and staff are dedicated to employing their disciplinary approaches, along with the expertise of policymakers, and the voices of stakeholders, to inform public policy that responds to a variety of needs and issues within our community.

History

The Public Policy Center was established in 1998 by the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska. Although the Center is a University-wide unit, it resides institutionally within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. In tandem with all contractor requirements, the PPC also conducts research with human subjects under the auspices of UNL Institutional Review Board policies and procedures.
