Meet some of the researchers and staff members who make PPC such a great place to work!
For today's staff snapshot, we spoke with Senior Research Specialist, Tarik Abdel-Monem, whose interests include state and local climate and public health policies, community engagement, and conflict-related experiences.
Q&A with Tarik Abdel-Monem:
- How do you think the Center’s work impacts Nebraskans?
The PPC's work spans broad and diverse areas of interest. There is never a moment without the opportunity to learn new things.
- What is something you have learned from your work and collaborations?
Collaboration with others really drives personal learning and growth. Another big pay-off is that collaboration can be much more efficient than working alone.
- What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Read the news thoroughly every day. But never read "the comments".
- What/who inspires/motivates you?
My partner, family, and super playful daughter.
What is one challenge you have faced in your career and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge is balancing a dynamic job and work life with your personal and family life in a healthy way. On a daily level, getting exercise, mental health breaks, and sleep have really worked for me.
