Women's History Month: Khadijah Davis

Staff Spotlight:

In honor of Women's History Month, we want to lift up the voices and victories of women. We asked PPC researchers and staff to share their advice for young women today. During the month of March, we will be sharing their replies. Today, we will hear from Research Coordinator Khadijah Davis, whose interests include health law/policies, international relations, public health programming, and HIV research.

Q&A with Khadijah Davis

  • What advice do you have for young women today?
My advice would be to continuously protect and uplift women who have less access and privilege than you. We all have varying degrees of privilege and using it to amplify the voices of others is imperative if we want to keep momentum moving in the right direction.

  • What is one way your life/work has been impacted by women?
From the invention of the gas furnace to smartphone applications, every aspect of my life has been impacted by the relentless and persistent efforts of minoritized women.

  • Can you think of a specific project you have worked on that directly impacts women?
As an undergraduate, I worked on HIV/AIDS and Commercial Sex Work research which focused on Ugandan women and their access to treatment/support as well as looking at policies and practices that impact their lives.
