Ethics: Managing Personal and Organizational Ethical Challenges

This program will review several clinical cases with a focus on increasing skills in managing potential ethical challenges, both internal and external. We’ll discuss how your own cognitive and emotional processes can support ethical practice or contribute to increased risk. In addition, we’ll talk about how learning to manage your relationship with your manager and negotiating organizational demands can be a source of support or challenge in your clinical work.

This training is approved for 3.75 continuing education (CE) credits for psychologists* and Nebraska LMHP/LIMHP. Credits will be awarded to participants who attend the entire training.

*Continuing education for psychologists may be used by other licensed behavioral health professionals. Please check with your licensing board. Continuing education credit is granted on a one credit per one instructional hour basis.

The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (NUPPC) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The NUPPC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

  2. Describe three external sources (interaction between the provider and environment) of potential ethical challenge.
  3. Describe a method of identifying potential threats to good ethical behavioral health care before they become a defensive practice challenge.
