HOUSING
Summer housing in D.C. can lead to a lot of stress if you wait until the last minute. Housing is often in high demand and books up early. We have curated a list of housing, Metro Stops, and places of interest for your reference. Additional resources and information can be found below.
American University
American University is located in one of Washington, D.C.’s northwest residential areas and is just minutes by bus, cab, Metro, or car from most famous sites. American University offers a free shuttle service that connects the university to the Metro Red Line at the Tenleytown-AU station.
All rooms offer free linens, pillows, towels and blankets, and are Wi-Fi and cable ready. Also included is campus wide wireless internet access, complimentary access to the fitness center, an on campus convenience store, Zipcar located on campus, and complimentary shuttle service. Summer housing is available from early May to mid-August. A six week minimum stay is required, and pricing increases the later you apply. Cost is generally around $400/wk. Online applications generally open in February.
Catholic University Housing
The Catholic University of America is located in northeast Washington, D.C. It is only three miles north of the U.S. Capitol and is served by the Metro Red Line at the Brookland/CUA Station which is right next to campus.
Housing is safe and secure with card access-only exterior doors. Interns have access to the on campus convenience store, the laundry facilities (no additional costs), cable, and campus wide Wi-Fi. All traditional style residence halls have study areas, a shared kitchenette, vending machines, and lounges with televisions available. Elite Intern Housing
Elite Intern Housing provides an alternative to dorm style intern housing, just steps to Congressional office buildings, to students and interns in Washington. They do not over-crowd our living spaces as we believe low-occupancy housing leads to a better experience. Find more information here.
E.W. Richardson Building Intern Housing
The Richardson Building Intern Housing program provides an enriching experience for young professional conservative interns at a reasonable cost. Conveniently located adjacent to The Heritage Foundation on the Senate side of Capitol Hill, our Intern Housing location is an easy walk to House and Senate office buildings. It is also nearby to Union Station for easy Metro access, making it an ideal location for interns on the Hill and throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Gallaudet University
Gallaudet is the world’s only university designed to be barrier-free for deaf and hard of hearing students. It is situated in northeast Washington, D.C. Gallaudet provides a free shuttle bus to Union Station or the Gallaudet Metro Stop (Red Line) just blocks away. There are also Capital Bikeshare and Zipcar stations on campus.
Gallaudet offers visitor housing based on a first-come, first-serve basis. After interns send in their registration, they will be contracted with more information. If there is availability, further instructions regarding payment will be provided. Gallaudet offers each guest a twin-XL bed, student desk and chair, a closet/wardrobe, and a dresser. Georgetown University
Located on a hilltop that overlooks the Potomac River, the Georgetown campus is roughly 8 miles away from the Capitol building and can be accessed via Metro, bus, bike, or car. The University is located near many cultural and social activities in a vibrant semi-urban atmosphere. Georgetown does not have direct access to a Metro line, but they provide campus shuttles to the Rosslyn and Dupont Stations. Rosslyn is on the blue, orange, and silver lines and Dupont is on the red line.
All guests will say in one of the Georgetown apartments or townhouse units. Many of the on-campus residential facilities have been fully renovated in the past few years. All spaces have free WiFi. For more information go here.

George Washington University
Located downtown in the historic Foggy Bottom district, interns are located in the heart of D.C. and are just minutes away from most locations.
George Washington University offers 7 different types of housing options for interns. All residence halls are furnished with a twin-xl size bed, desk and chair, closet or wardrobe, refrigerator and microwave, internet, cable, and telephone service, and coin operated laundry during the summer. Howard University College Hall
Howard University College Hall is located ten minutes away from the heart of downtown, is close to public transportation, and is near a multitude of monuments, museums, and government offices.
Community amenities include 24-hour lounges, access to Zipcar, laundry facilities, cable, Wi-Fi, and more. For more information look here.
Housing is generally available from late May to late July. Rates are $58 a night for single occupancy, weekly linen service is $20 per week, and other services are $10-$25 per week. For more information on the summer housing program head here.
International Student House
International Student House provides flexible and fully furnished housing with two meals a day in the heart of the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Most rooms are communal. For more information visit here.
Marymount University
Marymount University is located in Arlington, VA, six miles—or a short metro ride—from Washington D.C.
Marymount University offers summer housing in Lee Ostapenko Hall—Marymount’s newest residence hall—which features apartment-style spaces, accommodating between four and five residents in private and semi-private bedrooms. Each residence includes a kitchen, living room, and one or two bathrooms, and Ostapenko Hall also features a fitness center on its lowest floor. Students also have the option for a summer meal plan, including either 10 or 19 meals per week at an additional cost.

Thompson-Markward Hall
Thompson-Markward Hall is a temporary residence hall for young women. It is located right on Capitol Hill, just steps away from the Senate office buildings. Residents receive their own room, breakfast and dinner, and a private garden to share with other residents.
Major meals are included in the cost of room and board. There is breakfast daily, with brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and dinner Sunday through Friday. Hot and cold drinks, a microwave, and a toaster are available to residents throughout the day and evening. Coin operated laundry is available, and irons and ironing boards are provided on each floor. Room and Board is $37 per night for reservations 30 days and longer. This rate includes utilities, local calls, wireless internet, and major meals. Reservations are accepted for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of two years. To apply, go here.
Washington Intern Student Housing – WISH
All WISH intern housing is in the Historic District just steps from the Capitol, National Mall, and Federal buildings. Housing is also near the Metro.
Interns can choose from a classic Row House or Condo on their two campuses. Wi-Fi, Cable, laundry, and utilities are all included. Rooms are furnished and kitchen equipment is provided. For more information, go here.
