The Lincoln-Lancaster County Threat Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment workshop at UNL Memorial Stadium featured Jim Davidsaver, the Emergency Management Director at Lincoln-Lancaster County Emergency Management of Nebraska and Quinn Lewandowski of the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (NUPPC) speaking.
NUPPC facilitated the event where breakout groups with attendees from Lincoln, Lancaster County, and other southeast Nebraska organizations discussed three emergency scenarios facilitated by NUPPC Research Director Denise Bulling, Research Managers Quinn Lewandowski and Kurt Mantonya, and Research Specialists Ashley Miller and Jason Shonerd.
Events like this aim to help communities prepare for disasters by systematically identifying potential threats and hazards, assessing their likely impacts, and determining the necessary capabilities to address them. This three-step process helps communities answer what threats they face, what those threats would do, and what they need to do in response, thereby building a foundation for focused planning, resource allocation, and a common understanding of preparedness.
