Live Training with APA Certified Sponsor

The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (NUPPC) is an approved continuing education sponsor through the American Psychological Association (APA). This means we can facilitate psychologists’ access to continuing education that meets APA standards. Our staff can plan and execute conferences, workshops, and seminars of all sizes, virtual and in-person with continuing education credits. This includes event management, technology recommendations, graphic design, communications, accommodations, and logistics for in-person and remote-hosted events.

Building a Suicide-Safe School Community

Focus Area: Education & School Safety, Health & Behavioral Health, Violence & Suicide Prevention

Building a Suicide-Safe School Community is an interactive online training designed for faculty and staff at all levels within Nebraska schools. It introduces concepts that help educators and administrators understand what to do if a student is contemplating suicide, and how to ensure their school can appropriately respond to a suicide using postvention measures.

Module 1 consists of various learning activities, including videos, interactive handouts, scenarios, and quizzes. Module 2A, designed for school faculty and staff, focuses on postvention actions for school faculty and staff. Module 2B, designed for school administrators, counselors, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, focuses on postvention responses for school administrators and professional staff.

Building Resilience

Focus Area: Health & Behavioral Health, Disaster & Emergency Planning

Building Resilience is an online training designed to help build personal resilience. With each video, there are handouts (PDF) you can download. Two of them include fillable forms that you will be asked to complete. Pauses are built into each video, so you have time to complete the exercises.

Psychological First Aid Online Course

Focus Area: Health & Behavioral Health, Disaster & Emergency Planning

This Psychological First Aid (PFA) refresher course is designed to review some of the skills learned in a previous PFA course, or give you necessary just-in-time training if you have been asked to deploy to a disaster or emergency. This course also provides new information about deployment and working with a team. This course benefits both those who have already taken an in-person PFA training as well as those that require just-in-time training prior to deployment.

Behavioral Health Trainings with NEDHHS

Focus Area: Health & Behavioral Health

Behavioral health trainings shared on this site are produced in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health and the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center. The trainings, which are designed specifically for mental health professionals and practitioners, cover specific areas related to behavioral health, ranging from understanding psychosis to working with justice-involved populations. The Division of Behavioral Health Office of Consumer Affairs also sponsors trainings for peer support specialists, providers, consumers, and families.
