Meet some of the researchers and staff members who make PPC such a great place to work!
For today's staff snapshot, we spoke with Research Specialist, Ashley Miller, whose work focuses on individual and community resiliency.
Q&A with Ashley Miller:
- What is something you have learned from your work and collaborations?
I have come to deeply respect the level of complexity in the development and operation of any system.
- How do you think the Center’s work impacts Nebraskans?
The PPC strives to improve the lives of Nebraskans via the application of rigorous academic standards to all programs via expert collaboration with critical stakeholders to ensure programs as effective and efficient.
- What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
A robust support system is key and goal achievement is dependent on long-term consistency.
- What/who inspires/motivates you?
I feel motivated to give my work my best effort because I believe in the interconnectedness of ideas and systems. As such, my diligence enables others to also perform work at a high level.
What is one challenge you have faced in your career and how did you overcome it?
Sometimes, not knowing what one does not know is of the most difficult challenges to overcome. As a first-generation college student, striving for a career related to academia, it was imperative that I closely listened to those in positions I was interested in, challenged my internal beliefs, and committed to changing when it was necessary.
