Violence Risk Assessment Summit Focuses on Emerging Topics in Threat Assessment

Last week, the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center and The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services hosted the 2025 Violence Risk Assessment Summit in Omaha, Nebraska. The annual event brings together threat assessment professionals and clinicians to focus on emerging topics related to violence risk and threat assessment.

Day one of the summit included Dr. Ronald Schouten speaking about the intersection between clinical and BTAM ethics and Dr. Mario Scalora talking about recent trends in threat and risk assessment. Day two featured Drs. Randy Otto, Scott Bresler, and Molly Amman speaking about topics related to violence risk and threat assessment, followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Mario Scalora moderated by Dr. Denise Bulling. The final day of the summit featured Dr. Jack Rozel speaking about integrating threat assessment and crisis response.
