Student Assistants:

Many of the PPC's projects include graduate research assistantships or undergraduate research opportunities. Graduate students and undergraduates assist with research and other project activities. Graduate students often work with the faculty and project directors to present and publish the research.

Past students have gone on to work in industries such as social science research, law, federal government services, threat assessment, clinical psychology, public policy, international development, economics, and nonprofit management. We are always looking for talented and motivated students to work with our collaborative team of researchers, so contact the office if you would like to work with us.

 

 

Research Coordinator - Apply by April 17, 2024

The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (PPC) is seeking a Research Coordinator to assist with current and future funded projects. They will work with dynamic teams on a variety of public policy projects, including those in behavioral health, public participation, and other applied social sciences endeavors. They will assist others to conduct and facilitate research, coordinate certain aspects of projects and certain stakeholder involvement processes, collect and analyze data, assist with writing reports, and assist with presenting findings that impact state, local and federal policy. Some travel required.

The Research Coordinator position is open to applicants who have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and online research is required. Ability and attitude to provide excellent customer service required; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of individuals (from the University as well as those outside the University e.g., government officials) required; ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff as well as external parties to organize the various components needed to run and conclude major projects required; ability to coordinate workflow and relieve management of administrative detail; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects required, ability to assemble and analyze fairly complex information; ability to deal with last-minute deadlines; excellent creative problem solving skills required; excellent organizational skills, flexible, proactive, confident, resourceful, efficient, assertive, and attention to detail required. All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a DMV background check authorizing them to operate university vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with policy makers and other stakeholders, problem solving and decision making, working independently with minimal supervision, keeping supervisor and internal team members informed, and providing excellent customer relations.
